Approval and test specification - Air break switches

Specifies electrical safety requirements, to be read in conjunction with NZS/AS 3100. Applies to switches operated manually, mechanically, hydraulically or by other means, having current ratings not exceeding 300 A, for making and breaking a load current in electric circuits and appliances operating at low or medium voltage with a.c. or d.c., including manually operated direct-on-line motor starting switches. Does not apply to other types of motor starter or speed controller, nor to isolating switches incorporated within the scope of other equipment standards. Approved electrical safety Standard. Will be superseded (in part) by AS/NZS 3139.1:1995 in April 2005.
