NZS/AS 3131:1990

Approval and test specification - Plugs and socket-outlets for use in installation wiring systems

Specifies electrical safety requirements, to be read in conjunction with NZS 6200. Applies to plugs and socket-outlets having current ratings not exceeding 40 A, intended for indoor use at voltages not exceeding 500 V a.c., for the purpose of enabling connection and disconnection at will of the wiring system of an installation or of removable partitions, and for the connection of stationary equipment. Some standardized configurations are provided. Does not apply to industrial couplers (see AS 3123, BS 4343 or NZS 1989), general purpose plugs and sockets (AS/NZS 3112), cord extension sockets, (AS/NZS 3120), socket-outlet adaptors (AS/NZS 3122), nor to household appliance couplers (AS/NZS 3109).
