NZS 4701:1981

Metal-arc welding of steel structures

Covers the workmanship, materials, equipment and testing required for the welding of steel structures by the manual metal-arc, submerged arc, gas shielded metal-arc, flux cored arc, gas flux cored arc, electroslag and electrogas processes. It is limited to steel with a minimum yield strength not exceeding 450 MPa or a CE not exceeding 0.54 percent. It applies to all types of welded steel structures, including structures designed in accordance with NZS 3404, bridges, cranes and hoists. It is not intended to cover boilers, pressure vessels, piping and pipelines. Three levels of weld acceptance are specified.
