Approval and test specification - Particular requirements for ultra-violet and infra-red radiation skin treatment appliances for household and similar use (=AS 3315-1992)

(±IEC 335-2-27:1987) In the appliance safety series, this Standard is to be read as a supplement to the General requirements (AS 3300/NZS 6300, ±IEC 335-1 second edition, see Basic information above). It modifies the corresponding clauses to apply to appliances which produce radiant electromagnetic energy just outside the visible light spectrum, that is at wavelengths less than 400 nm (u.v.) or greater than 800 nm (i.r.), intended for personal beauty treatment or artificial sun-tanning. Particular features specified include warning labels, user instructions, and precautions for prevention of sunburn or eye damage. Does not apply to heat baths of the bed-cradle type, other types of beauty therapy equipment see NZS/AS 3130), nor to appliances for medical purposes. Approved electrical safety Standard.
