Approval and test specification - Safety of information technology equipment including electrical business equipment

Applies to a wide range of fixed and portable items, including data and text processing equipment, computers, VDUs, equipment for connection to telecommunication circuits; typewriters, accounting machines, copiers, paper processors (such as staplers, punchers, trimmers, shredders), postage machines, and other office or drawing equipment, powered from supply systems up to 600 V for continuous operation. It specifies requirements for protection against electric shock or fire, and energy, mechanical, heat, radiation, or chemical hazards. Does not deal with performance or functional characteristics, nor with onerous environments or electromedical use. Does not apply to ancillaries(such as air-conditioning, fire protection, power supply, batteries) which are not an integral part of the equipment; nor to large copiers (e.g. plan printers); nor to equipment powered from a telecommunication network.
