Electrical Wiring Rules updated
AS/NZS 3000:2018 Electrical Installations – Known as the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules, has been updated.
This is an important standard for the electrical industry, as it sets out the requirements for the design, construction, and verification of electrical installations. It’s important for New Zealanders in general too, as the standard is designed to protect people, livestock, and property from electric shock, fire, and physical injury.
Amendment 1 includes several updates to the 2018 standard, including:
- Clarification of sections Service Protective Device and Common Areas
- Updates to sections Luminaires, Appliances and Other Electrical Equipment and Special Electrical Installations
- References now include AS/NZS 5139 Electrical Installations – Safety of battery systems for use with power conversion equipment.
Although an update to this standard was done less than a year ago, it has been modified by amendment to take into account errors, omissions, or improvements that were identified by user and stakeholder feedback.
This amendment is available as a free download(external link) through the Standards New Zealand website and for purchase in hard copy. The full standard(external link) is also available for purchase.
